induction kit relocation

  Renault Clio 53 1.2
right well was thinking of relocating my induction kit to nearer my battery away from the engine this would envolve a longer pipe from the engine, how would this effect the performance and sound, moving it further away from the engine in the battery compartment would this make it louder any one shed some light on this?

To answer your question I don't think it will make any difference to the noise. What type of induction kit is it? If its an open cone type I wouldn't bother as heat soak would probably give you less power then what you began with. Cold air induction kits are the best. There's nothing wrong with the standard air box on the 1.2 it takes cold air in from behind the front grill (If I remember rightly).

TBH an induction kit on a 1.2 may give you 1bhp gain. The only noticable difference will be noise, loud induction noise on a 1.2 is a bit chavy?!

thanks for quick reply um the k & n noise was quite tame so its was perfect its a cold air induction, http://www.lyonssystemsserver.com/breakerpro/1038/1038-020611-120924-431-010-PTIMG.jpg
if you look at that picture and look at the air box on the right see that air feed pipe going into the air box that comes from the battery section.
after the engine was hot the battery part of the engine bay was still nice and cool so was thinking of relocation it to there, as there would be a nice cold feed from the fog light or grill? and it would be better shielded from the engine. its not really for the power its mainly to stop power loss rather then gain power. i just didn't want the filter to get any louder, was wondering how moving it effects it?

Ahh I see, well as a rule of thumb the shorter distance from the throttle body to the inlet of the air feed the better as there's less distance for the air to travel, obviously there has to be filtration in between in the form of your air filter and filter housing.

Also moving it won't make much difference if any mate, personally i'd leave it as it is :). To prevent a loss in power perhaps use a larger bore size of air feed pipe to the air filter box. Just an idea
