induction kits

  Clio 172 Cup

i know there is a post here about induction kits, but i dont know out about them. Wat are these carbons ones? Which are popular? What are the prices?

I had a K&N but took it off, it was crap.

The Piper X Viper & BMC CDA are both carbon fibre enclosed Induction Kits, both fairly popular.

Your looking at £250 for the Viper and maybe a bit less for CDA.

Theres nothing wrong with K&N filters. Its the location that you put them in that makes the difference. If you put the kit in a place where you suck in loads of hot air (ie: near the engine), you WILL lose power and performance.

There are a few of us that have come up with ways to shield and enclose open induction kits to ensure they get cold air. As Tom_16v mentions, PiperX Viper and BMC CDA are both induction cones in a sealed carbon fibre box with cold air feeds to the front of the car.

I for one object to paying £250 for an induction kit that will give not much performance increase. Thats why Ive gone the DIY route. If youre loaded and £250 means nothing to you, get a Viper or a BMC CDA.

ITG Maxogen is the sealed induction filter for me

not specifically made for the clio yet, but one of their current range could be modified to fit

Yes it would, and that just what alot of us have done, either placing it just behind at an angle, or through it facing forward, youve got to remove a few things to get the pipe down there, but its the only way to go.

any tips on how to that mate? wat do u mean remove afew things? is it not better taking the panel off at the bottom of the car, underneath the engine. Then workin from there,

There is an air intake actuator which needs unpluging and taping up, and at least one piece of plastic that needs to be removed to get a route down for the pipe, without doing this you cant go anywhere.

Oh and remove the headlamp adjuster unit from the back of the headlamp, and refit this after youve done the pipework, otherwise you wont get it down there easily if at all.

that means nothing to me!!! Wat do the instructions with the kit say? They wont explain how to get the pipe down there will they? When u say air intake actuator, do u mean the pipe that fits into the original air box, cos that will be left there useless wont it?
