Induction Noise.... GONE!??

Seems strange, had a problem with the car and the battery was disconnected so the radio needs the code so i have not had the radio on.

Driving along I'm thinking to myself, I know the radio is off but there's something missing here. Then I realised it was stupidly quiet


The noise has just disappeared :S It's usually very noticable at over 2k RPM but there's nothing at all, it's as if someone has stuck an electric motor in..


Any idea what could cause it, surely can't be normal for it to just vanish.

The two cold air ducting pipes on the airbox will cancel out induction sound. Remove them to get the sound back.

do you have an induction kit or the std airbox? maybe you messed with the CAF and forgot about it

have you fitted cold air feed pipes to it lately, this shuts them up a lot

probably not an answer but will your ECU not still be in 'learning mode' as its had the battery disconnected?

Have a similarish problem

the sound of induction at higher revs has gone. It used to make a noise of sucking in air once revving at, say, 5k, now, nothing.

Maybe there was a fancy panel filter in there which was replaced with a normal one at a service, I couldn't tell you, I never put one in anyway.

but, anyway, it is no more. Standard car, loses induction suction noise.

any ideas?
