ive got a clio extreme and i was wondering if any 1 could suggest something that would improve the speed, bhp, aceleration etc without doing anything major to the engine

Also are newer car's engines restricted in any

I would Lose the back seat, its a 5 minute job, take out the spare wheel too. Fill up with optimax or similar. You could replace the air filter with a panel filter but anything else would invalidate you insurance unless you pay them extra.

No real point doing engine mods the results would not be impressive

Coilovers , lightweight wheels and a freeflowing exhaust are all you need ask Fred he whippad a 172 with those mods

And back seats out is definately not a 5 minute job in my experience

Strip the car out totally interier and exterier wise will help with speed but its noiser.

Engine modifications arn't cheap the engine not the best of starting pont decat and full exhaust + cold air induction kit etc won't get much more power for the cost. I'd go for better suspension first. £1k won't get you much power. For £1.5k you can buy all the bits you need to transplant a 172 engine gearbox brakes suspension and dash from a 172 into your car. Fitments not too bad just takes some time however insurance may be a different matter.
If you want to go quicker for £1k here what I'd do. Coilover £500. and spend the other £00 on learning to drive and take better driving lines etc on a trackday.
