Injector swap question

Hi, I'm swapping my injectors for new ones. I fitted them to the rail and I can't get the rubber joint on the injector to fit behind the engine. Is it okay to leave it here or is it important that it goes behind?

Funnily enough I’m having the exact same situation currently. I’ve replaced one and left the other old one in but I cannot get the new one to push in. I’ve tried WD40 but it doesn’t work. Any idea guys?

Update I just got a long bar and stuck it at the bottom of the altenator bracket and pushed onto the fuel rail like that. WD40 on the seals. All in now.

I put a bit of my engine oil on the joint, used a bar to lever and they're in now. Thanks
