Instagram Picture Size

Hi, Ive got an iPhone 5, and I have what I believe to be an issue with Instagram;

If I have taken a picture, lets say of my car, and it fills the screen, when I try to upload it to instagram, theres not enough space in the window, and it cuts off the edges? Is this correct or have I messed with a setting?

Instagram automatically crops photos to a equal height/width.

It sounds as if yours is normal.

Hey man, try the app "whitagram" on the AppStore! What it does is take the normal Instagram square format but puts you landscape or portrait picture to scale within it, and then you choose whether to have white boarder or black? Ill post an example I use it alot
See it's a portrait picture with grey areas to fill in the gaps on the square you can change the colour of course
