[insurance] New car/old car

  RenaultSport Clio 172 Mk2

If I buy a new car can I still drive it on my old cars insurance policy as 3rd party until I get the new insurance sorted?

i.e to collect it and use it for a day or two until I get a new policy arranged and cancel my old one.

I have a few quotes but want to ring round properly once I know which car Im buying (age, reg, mods, etc.)

Dont think you can?

When I got my 172, I spoke to my insurance company who then advised that I should carry all my NCD etc to the new car with effect from the delivery date, however they would then cover my old vehicle on a temporary month by month basis on a seperate policy.

But it may differ depending on your policy I suppose.

If its part of a hire purchase agreement then def not as they require Fully Comp.

If not.....................I know this applies if the car is owned by someone else but does it apply if the car is in your name Im not sure..........................I wouldnt you never know and sods law being what it is as they say.....................it isnt worth the risk for a few days.

Best phone the insurance company.
