Insurance on Mods.

Im ringin round to get insurance quotes on a 172 which i will be buying in the next few months.... but i want to mod it slightly (suspension, IK, Wheels etc).... so which companies are mod happy?

Cheers, Dan.

Liv Vic said to me that as long as my car stays a 1400cc then the insurance wont change!

Elephant charge ridiculous amounts for mods (it added 4K on the premium in my case!)

CIS are good for external mods - anything performance enhancing will raise your premium!

Bear in mind Liv Vic wont quote for a Williams unless you are 25+ so 172 may be the same...

Liverpool Victorias online system is uselss wont give you a quote for most things.

They were excellent value for me last yr but I went with More Than this year which were £300 cheaper they allow any mods so long as acceleration or top speed arnt affected.

Dont forget if your an Amicus union member to quote reference code IEFO they never asked me for proof of union membership.

I was liv vic last year, cheapest quote by 200. but they werent as competitive this year, so i went with adrian flux

insurance went from 1200 to 750

if my car wasnt modded i could have got direct line 500 notes:(

Liv Vic where my cheapest and dont charge for mods, how could I ask for more?
Oh and add a lady driver on who has had a license for a while, knocked mine down by £250..

Just be careful here, Liv vic are the ONLY insurance company I know of who will pay out for your mods. Tesco, CIS etc all charge you more for having the mods on your car but WILL NOT (as of two months ago when I was ringing round) pay out for your mods.

i.e. if you have a 1.2 16v dynamique with 17" alloys, lowered 60mm, colour coded, induction kit, etc etc then tescos will charge you a whole heap load more for having it but if it gets nicked or written off whatever will only pay out the value of a standard car.

Liv vic will pay out the replacement value of all mods so long as you have photos as evidence.
Not sure about Adrian Flux on this one, I would assume they pay out for mods but dont take it for granted

and edde: So more than basically allow any styling mods but nothing performance related cos anything you do performance is gonna increase acceleration or top speed!! well unless youre me and fit a k and n and it makes it slightly slower!!! ;)
