Unfortunately i can't drive just now but will be sitting ma test soon, and i'm hoping to get a decnt first car how much would insurance cost on a
. Citroen Saxo VTS or VTS
. Clio Williams (if i can get 1 )
. Clio 1.2 Dynamique - Getting it lowered (60mm) wheels and exhaust (full sytem)

Would probaly be on my Mum or Dad's insurance
Dunno how it all works really :S

  Inferno 182 w/ Recaros ;)
yeah, but i wouldnt lower it, or put an exhaust and wheels on it.

if you smash it, then it will cost you more to replace, plus it will cost a lot more on insurance to add those things at your age.

its not worth doing anything to your car at that age, you could wait a year and then when you have 1 years ncb it would drop down allowing you to do those things

oh and with it being on your mum or dads insurance, if you do those things then if you do have an accident, or if somebody hits you, then your insurance will be void because they will see it as being your car, as it will be modified, and then not pay out to repair the car.

Don't get insured in your parent's name as its fraudulant, and invalidates your policy!

  172 Cup
HIC don't charge extra for mods (within reason), but last time I phoned I think they started asking for a small admin fee - a load of shite really but hey..

  No more clio's for me!
Start with something crap mate...i had a 1.3L 1986 Escort, great little honest motor...we've all been there!

Best to build your NCB up and keep the speeding fines to a minimum! ;)

  1.2 16v clio
in the same drivin situation no license but i got a car in my dads name a 51 1.2 dynamic it wo 400 on his and 2700 on mine but it drops when ur 18 and had a license a year and passplus which im doin it will b about 1000 so thats ur best bet. u could get insured on a vtr which would be still pretty expsensive and the vts and willaims will b over the top expensive

Williams is out of the question mate untill your atleast 18 with 1yrs ncb but even at that your talking near enough £3,000!

VTR i know a couple of people at 17 driving them but they get ripped off mega style too!

there is quite a lot of us here with 1.2 16v Dynamiques for first cars at 17 (ive not passed yet eather) direct line quoted me £350 a year on my mums policy at 17yr old on mine and norwich union were about £1300 for me on my own i think it was, this is without declairing mods but MAKE SURE you do PassPlus when you pass because that can take upto 50% off your insurance premium.

What does PassPlus mean, and what does it do ???
Its a 6 hour driving cousr showing you driving at night on motorways etc many companies give you the equivalent of 1 yrs NCB for this you'll still only have 1 yrs NCB after the policy has ended but next year your a year younger so the policys less.
HIC won't realy be competitive they let you do mods but they insure quick cars ie 172/182's the cannot real be competitive with 1.2's etc.
CIS are good also check Tesco (can be a bit pricy with mods)

How much u talking to do a PassPlus ???
I think I paid (well my parents) about £150 to do it.

It wasn't that useful for me as I'd done about 4k miles before I passed my test in all weathers and conditions.

  1.2 16v clio
depends if ur instructor does it because if u have covered some of the things then you wont need to cover them agen so it maybe cheaper
