INSURANCE!!!

mate its a bomb, i am 17 on a 1.4 dynamique and ended up sharing the car with my dad so he can go as the named driver, its still 1595 a year with CIS Insurance, and they dont care about cosmetic mods, so that saves a bit aswell. either bite the bullett, or wait til your about 18 to start biulding up no claims.

I paid 1100 FC for my first year with pass pluss at 18, car was a 1997 1.4 Sport worth 3k at the time.

Try Norwhich Union with pass pluss and ring around, dont bother with internet quotes, they are very higher for young drivers.

Try Tesco.

Im 18 and insured on M reg Clio 1.4 RT (still paying insurance after its written off!). I have one yrs experience but I had a claim last yr so 0 NCB and have a speeding ticket. My premium is £1750.

If you do Pass Plus, try Norwich Union, they gave me a massive 52% discount for doing it.

If you do go with Norwich Union, DO NOT do the 9months scheme so "you get 5yrs NCB equivalent discount after 3yrs". In theory, itll work if you dont have any claims. BUT if you or a 3rd party makes a claim, youll find insurance is high at renewal because at 9months, youll have 0 yrs experience, 0 yrs NCB and a claim. I speak from experience. I had to wait 3 months before I could get insured because i couldnt afford it without 1yrs experience.

CIS now DO CARE about mods, infact, they wont insure a modified car of ANY description, unless you already have a policy with them, found this out with my renewal.

I moved to Tesco this year and they allowed me mods. Around £250 for cosmetics (so no extra if alloys, tints, exhausts than if just alloys - not sure about bodykits tho) and performance was another £250 (induction, sports exhaust, etc)

Norwich Union charge 10% for all mods with a max of 3 mods i think.

norwich union, i was 18 no no claims, pass plus, 1.4 dynamique brand new, and it was 1400, not ridiculous really (well... relatively). And just gone to get a renewel quote, with a years no claims, £816 :D (still a lot but not too bad for 19.) plus its the first quote ive had so its come down A LOT!
