Intermittent starting problem + serv light on + oil pressure warning

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
Hi Guys,

Need a bit of help with my 172, if i don't get this problem sorted soon i'm going to stick it round an f-ing tree!
The car sometimes won't start (tries to turn over but doesn't fire) and after half a dozen attempts, I give up and then re-try 5 mins later and it fires straight away. It starts but the service light stays on then i get an oil warning plus six dashes (------) which eventually goes. Oil level is currently halfway between min and max.
This is so frustrating as the next day it will start first time with no problems. Any ideas/suggestions would be great?

I could just take it to a garage but as it doesn't do it all the time they maybe wouldn't find anything.

Oil level will be a faulty oil level sender or its associated wiring... will also be the cause of the oil light and SERV light. It shouldn't be the cause of the poor start though so would recommend you get it plugged in.
