Ipod Nano 8GB - WTF?

  Clio 197
Hello. :D

I've just purchased an 8GB Ipod Nano.

Now, this thing only comes in black (which is what I wanted).

Question:

1) Why on earth are all the accessories white (cable/headphones)???

2) Was the extra 4GB worth the extra £40, given that one day the battery will die on me?

Ta,

Oms.

Yeah it was worth the extra £40 mate.....and dont you get 20+ hours playback on the new nano's??

Batteries can be easily changed...undo the solder get the new battery solder it back in....sorted.

^^

Cool... but how do you get into a nano in the first place? They're TINY! :S

Playback time is upto 24 hrs on them now. :D

Fingers crossed with the battery.

Hiya,

I got mine from Comet for £170.

Just headphones and a USB charger unfortunately. No other accessories.

I got a 12V car USB adaptor for my DS (£6), which I can plug the nano into.

At home, I've got a powered USB hub, so that works quite well as a charger. :D

a new battery is £8 off ebay including postage, i'd hardly call having to change the battery once a year an issue when they only cost that much.

You can get into them quite easily mate....there are a few vids kicking around the net that will show you how open them properly.

IIRC youtube.com had a few.

I picked up the same model on Sat from the local Apple Centre.

Battey life does not bother me, most of the time its used here at work via my mac, or plugged into the car. My 20Gb Ipod is fine after 2 years use.

The 8gb was worth the extra IMO, I cant believe how tiny the nano is next to a proper ipod.

As for the white bits, good point!

Mine is cool apart from a few issues with the Denison link in the 182.

Yes... it's SO small it's unbelievable - that's why I went for it. :D

Denison link??

Hmm... I've got a Sony headunit, and I'd like to be able to connect her up.

There are FM cradles on the market, and proper ones that go into the Aux-In.

Where's a good place to start shpping for one?

I havent set my 8GB up yet still sat there.

I use the Alpine ipod interface and allways use it at the gym. Just was annoying only having 2GB space.

I think that's just it.

I'd like to put all sorts of music on there, so that there's always something to suit my mood. There's a better chance of that happening with 8GB hopefully.

The nano is like the cup version of an ipod!

Everytime its gets cold they crash ?

Nano's are great.. but for pure size alone the shuffle wins..

would people recomend these over the 30gb ipod?

pros and cons?

im torn between the two as they are both similar prices

30GB has a Hard Drive, is larger (Physical size)

Nano is solid state, no moving parts, much more compact. Depends what u wanna use it for. For me the 30GB is useless as I need something for the gym, so moving parts and size are a big no no, plus knocks in the car used to send my ipod video mental.

Depends on your use, if you dont plan on using at the gym then it makes sense to go for the video for £20 more IMO

In that case Video ipod. MIne skipped a fair bit but that was the location of it.

If you put it somewhere sensible. It should be fine and I would go for that if you have the shuffle

My normal 20Gb ipod has never skipped in the car, it is just so cumbersome compared to the nano though, which you can chuck in your pocket and not know about it unlike an ipod.
