I thought it was only illegal to watch TV shows LIVE without a licence. You can watch, for example, BBC news video clips and a full show over the internet that has been pre-recorded without the need for a TV licence.

SpudMuffin is correct. The licence ONLY applies to LIVE TV. As long as the tv show you are downloading is legally available for download then there is no issue.

the law states somet stupid that u can record tv , but must not keep it on tape for xx months or somet daft like that , so nearly every one in uk is breaking this copyright
