Is it ok to fit an aftermarket HU with renault SatNav?

Hi guys,

I've got the colour renault satnav in my car. Is it possible to change the cd player without affecting the satnav?

If I'm not arsed about the steering controls do I still need any kind of adapter?

If I do want to keep steering controls, which adapter do I need? cheers.

I've done some looking. If I were to get a Sony HU, it'd connect via a standard ISO connection and then to get the display and stalk working I'd need this adapter...

One way to find out is to disconnect the hu and see if it still works.

I beleive that the head unit, and the Sat nav are one system. When i was fitting an install for a guy few months back, he had the Sat nav on the car, and we took the headunit out. After that he had a blank screen.

TBH though it is better to speak directly to Renault, they might be able to confirm if this is correct.

I was under the impression that the Sat Nav on the Clio was a stand alone unit.

Cheers. I do have my suspicions that although they are linked, they aren't dependant on each other. for e.g. the satnav has it's own control buttons next to the screen
