is it worth getting a decat

  Focus RS
for my ff172 or would i be better spending my money else where. So far I have stuck it on apex springs and koni shocks and fitted a viper kit but am now at a bit of a loss. What would you guys recommend and what kind of gains will i see.

yes definatley, one of the best mods i have done to my 172, couldnt believe how much better the car drives with it on.

Yes,yes and one more yes! Money very well spent IMHO. (from an approved owner of decatted 182)

I'm going to go for a decat and a matched inlet manifold on mine at some point. As far as I can see it's the best value mod on these cars. BBPT will soon have a decat out that won't bring the emissions light on.

does having a de cat pipe reduce ur mpg??

ive had my decat pipe on now for 2 weeks and my mpg seems to have gone up lol!!!

its the best £100 ive spent on my car much more free flowing, and pulls alot better. and i dont get an emissions light on either. :)

de-cat's are great! but remember you will have to change it everytime the it needs MOT'ing

you could always go for a Sports cat, bit pricey, but a lot less hassle. Though its hard to find one that actually works as well as a de-cat.
I found that a powerflow custom sports cat work the best

cheers guys, decat it is then. Does it matter which one I get? If so any suggestions on where I should be looking at getting it from

Check out GDI,Yozza and BBPT. Found GDI to be the cheapest by some way and seems excellent quality.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread.

But has anybody got a de-cat on a ff182?
Has it thrown the services light on?
Has it affected the car (having the light on)?

Mine is a FF182 and so far no light. Had the decat 8 weeks or so. Loving the noise and the amount the revs have freed up.

Second that

Sports cat makes a good improvement over stock if you can stretch to the £250-300 that they cost new.

Had my GDI decat on my FF182 for a month now and loving it, revs a lot quicker form 4K onwards and no emissions light. Just had the inlet manifold/plenum matched and that has also made a noticable difference. Both worthwhile cheap mods :)

I thought if you got a De-cat your car would drink petrol thats why i never botherd to get 1, i did get told it does make the car sound and run nicer tho.

is yozza`s the same bore ad the devil ? does bore size matter due to backpreassure (btw i know its not a turbo but there is still a right ammount of backpreassure isn there ? correct me if im being a spacker)

which is best yozz or devil ?

who`s closer to the north to get inlet also

  Golf R/Leon FR
just had a look on yoz's website the bore looks the same as the devil one.
im not sure whether bore size matters and back pressure tbh would have to as fred or benR. also for inlet im not sure who's closest as im from further north than you lol

i thought it would have used more petrol but it has improved. it sounds so much nicer now with it on makes the magnex sound 10 times better and isnt too loud either its just right. much more throatier and has a nice burble at idle.

and it seems to run nicer and pulls alot better throught the gears.
