is it worth modifying your car

  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
i sold my tastefully modded car for £400 more than i bought it for a year later and 12k more miles.

only made like £300 loss on modifications but i loved my car so if you want to make your car look individual then go for ir :)

Be warned....if you start modding your car and enjoy going to car shows etc then you wont be able to stop until you realise that you've spent an insaine amount of money.

when i first put some suttle skirting on lusty and some wheels, lowered etc i noticed her getting attention and comments from perfect strangers.

i then thought "I wonder how many people will comment on it if i put a spoiler and quad headlights etc".

Eventually you will get so hooked on the looks you get and the way it makes you feel that you will want more and more.

If modifying cars is in your blood then its in your blood and you wont be able to stop the urges to keep on modding it.

I think it really depends who you sell to aswell, some people are gullable. Mods dont add value i think mods are only really done due to personal preference, as you may mod your car then put it up far sale but this will mean it will appeal to less people hence less chance of selling it. I want to paint my 2ltr badges liquid yellow, this is my preference i know it wont appeal to others.

Kullycliosport,Alex, I was being sarcy..... of course I was refering to people who had done a ram raid on Halfords as you put it.

In my opinion though most of the modified cars that I see on the road look like they have ram raided Halfords! I used to work with a guy from New Zealand who could never understand why the modified cars in this country where so sh*t, big body kits, spoilers etc and nothing under the bonnet. I've got a DVD of tuned cars from NZ and they certainly know their stuff.

so was i mate .....i do appreciate where your coming from though .
