Is RS Tuner worth price?

For what? It increases the Rev range which I find useful. Cold starts are better.

So yeah I'd say so. But any bigger mods then no
 
As Dan mentioned, worth it purely for not bouncing off the limiter on track as you'll hear from other Clios at Kirkistown, especially leaving the hairpin, no real power gains but it definitely feels better on track.

There are also good rumours that it locks the ecu. I'm sure it can be got around but may be a concern, maybe.

I have to have my ecu wiped,to fit the rs2 style inlet,as the rs tuner locks the ecu down.£50 to wipe ecu so not end of the world but still a pita if planning more power etc.
 
That's new info. Hadn't come accross it before. Might run her out Oct/Nov days as is and see how she goes before winter improvements

Best plan, far too many on here take so long tinkering it doesn't even make it to a track lmao I tinker/learn as I go along, keeps me interested, also means it always feels like it's improving. It only took 10 months of track days to finally ditch the carpets lol

It's a good bit of kit for the money tbh. If your not looking to go for the bigger stuff then I'd recommend it

Didn't get a base/standard dyno run, but mine with RS tuner.......pretty healthy for an abused 13 year old cup!

My RST is one of the first generation units and is 8 years old, I wonder if the locked ecu is the same for all of them or just the newer ones?

How much does it raise the rev limit by? I presume its safe and no supporting mods required to accomodate the raised limit?
I'll be competing in sprints / hillclimbs next year and thinking thag extra revs may be handy for times when its not worth changing up a gear on short, twisty sprints

Raises it to 7500.
I've never understood why really as these engines lose most of its grunt above 6500.

I have a Quantum Remap on my 172 but I have driven on a few occasions a stock 172.

If you had asked me years ago I would have said not to touch a remap. However, I loved the flexibility of my 172s after the remap. It doesn't really drive like a 2.0 engine TBH. It is not quite as torquey as my 944 S2 3.0 was but it is somewhere between that and a stock 172 ; my 944 Turbo was gutless below 3k in comparison.

However, it is more eager on initial throttle, taking away from the smooth operator experience. Overall, the the engine does feel more refined and grown up (so you can be a little lazier with the gear changes) so I say go for it.

However, with the rumours of it locking the ECU I may be tempted to look elsewhere.

most beneficial on track, clipping the limiter regularly is hard on rod bolts amongst other things, easy to do when you're revving it to the redline every gear change
Surely clipping the limiter at 7250rpm is no worse than having no limiter to 7500rpm and revving to say 7400?

much worse, especially for a pure track car like mine, regularly clipping the limiter (easily done on track) is a good way to snap/stretch your rod bolts, mine doesn't see ordinary daily driving, these engines can Rev to 7400, much safer Imo. I have shift lights to keeps me well under though, not hitting the limiter if I'm late with a change is just belt and braces for me

I've got to say I love the clio 200 and it's beeping system. Aside from sounding awesome it helps!

If it's beeping at you, you're too late, if it's the same as the 1*2s. Overrev indicator, rather than a shift now indicator. You should be shifting just before it has to tell you.

I'll be back in March. I imagine by the time you're having the drivers meeting my hangover should be starting to kick in!
Know what I'd prefer to be doing though!
