Is Stripping the car bad?

  Evo
Always been a fan of the stripped out clios since i first took the back seats out my little 1.4 many years ago.

However now im all grown up and im not feeling it lately. After just buying a very expensive roll cage last month im now considering taking it back out, ditching the harnesses and putting my seats back in to make it a proper car again, just need the justification that a stripped out car is abit pants.

What do you all think?

It can wear abit thin the "stripped" out look, especially if it's your daily runner, when you get a little older.

Although yours does look good mate.

Its mainly only used for weekends still and the noise/rattles arent what bothers me its the look.

I step back and see a road car trying to be a full on track car lol, its neither one or other to me, a messy look! :dead:

And lets all be honest, it makes no difference to performance lol :boring:

lol, personally unless it was going to a track car and only a track car with very limited day to day use id say theres not much point?

Full interior ftw. This is why 99% of people sell their RS's. They buy them standard, love them, then start with zorsts/cheap coilovers. Then 6 months later the car is too loud/rattles/ and is too hard. Totally their fault, not the cars.

Back to Standard, I know exactly what you mean about it wearing a bit thin. Much more useable with back seats and looks nice and tidy again. You can always take them out again if you do a trackday etc.

If your feeling hardcore you can always take the parcel shelf out as well !!;)

Strip it more and give me the CS's!!! Lol... on a serious note, put the seats back in and throw the scaffolding away.

I love asking people with cages why they have it... erm... in case I roll it!? FPMSL.

A full cage or no cage imo. It's like everything in life... if you're gonna do it then do it properly.

full cage will improve it but TBH only strip it if its going to be a full on track ****.

I've never understood the "stripped out" theme - the end of the day it's a Clio (Ok, I know yours is fairly heavily modded with the Nos etc) but it's still a Clio!

Surely taking out the seats and then adding half a market in scaffholding will increase / near enough make the weight of the car the same as it would if you'd left it standard?

I know about the cage strenghtening the chassis etc - but Lakeside isn't a track. ;)

Well, Vicky's spoken so that's you told tbh ;)

For me though, I think you've been gradually doing a bit here, bit there, aiming for some kind of ultimate goal of what you've envisioned. You're probably nearly where you want to be with it and I think you're just having doubts (bottling-it, if you like)
Stick with it, afterall, you can use Vickys sensible car (or twingo) if you need a bit of comfort.

Personally, my car is to get me to and from work, and about at weekends. For that reason I never plan to remove things from the inside.

The important thing is that you still have the interior trim to put back when you like. I could never understand why strip a car and sell all their bits. Come selling time you have to sell the car for peanuts to get rid and your potential buyers are thin on the ground.

  53 Clio's & counting
I say do what YOU want mate.

If your not happy then put it all back in, personally id probably leave it as it looks nice

Yes, very few people want a car with half the interior missing.

Also the rear bench seats weigh absolutely nothing so there is no real weight saving vs the big increase in noise. Yes it all adds up but it's not that heavy to start with.

This.

If you're upgrading choose wisely. I hate stripped out cars for daily drivers. Horrible place to be.

Can't be doing with driving a stripped car daily. I had the back seats down for a week and that was enough to drive me insane.

Noise of the exhaust gave me a headache after 5 minutes of driving, and the rattles you could hear made me want to break things.

No need to break things, it's a Clio it'll break it's self given time :rasp: lol.

Taken the rear seats out of mine but I've got a false floor fitted in mine, plus when more than one person asks for a lift I just point at the back of the car and smile.

  MK2 PH1 Valver (50% done)
tidy up the remaining plastics and use accoustic carpet to give it a slightly less bare look.?

its not bad, but its pointless if you're not going to reap its benefits, which makes it inconvenient.

Mine was stripped before i put fixed buckets in. Didn't really use the rear seats at all so i can't see the point of lugging around the extra weight.
Now i have fixed seats and harnesses the seatbelt reels can come out but i won't go as far as losing the rear quarter panel interior trims.

Im all for light stripping. Plus the noise is better as well.
