Is there a problem with my 172

Hi all.I was driving home earlier and the stop light and the handbreak light came on at the same time.I was in 3rd gear at roughly 5000 rpm.does anyone know what it could be?

was you going around a corner, either way check your brake fluid and brake pads, probably running low

or a loose connection on your handbrake switch

Mine did this shortly before I had to call the AA and be towed to a Renault Garage.

My battery had gone flat as the alternator wouldnt charge.

Worse case scenario mind, Id go with 182_blues suggestion

Try taking it round a long left hand bend at speed, if it comes on again it deffo needs topping up with fluid.

now you mention it its only done it once before in the same place on the same bit of road witch is a left hand bend.what fluid do i get if this is the case?

Erm Brake fluid lol

and buy the smallest bottle as you wont need much. Also get a funnel as its a b*****d to pour in without spilling it. Oh yeah and you have to remove the engine cover ( need a torx 30 screwdriver) to get to where you fill it up, its behind the engine.

Any pics as to where that is, as mine does that exact same thing when turning at speed!
