Is this a good deal?

  2004 Clio 182
im after a Clio as my first car and have been keeping an eye on the market for a little while now. I saw a Black 2002 1.6 16V Dynamique+ advertised for £4000 and thought it seemed like a good deal as the other ones i have seen have been going for about £4500. I have just come back from seeing the car and the seller said that if i pay cash and collect in the next few days i could have it for £3700.

The car is in good mechanical condition with everything working fine. It only has 27k miles on the clock as it is only used as a second car. It has aready had its 36k mile B service and at the last MOT (Feb 06) only needed the break pads replaceing. It is the Dynamique+ which means that climate control is included. Does no have any scratches of dents to the body work.

Only small bad points. Could really do with a good clean, as even tho it is working fine it has not been "babied" and cleaned inside and out for a while, the engine bay could also do with a bit of a clean.
Althought the inside does not look worn at all there is a funny patch towards the top right of the steering wheel. It looks like about 1/4 of the wheel has either been effected by the heat or constantly gripped very hard and looks almost like it has melted very slightly.
was not a big fan of the black mesh pull over cover on the sunroof. It still let quite a bit of light through. It didnt effect me when i gave it a quick test drive but my dad who is 2 inches taller said it caught his eye a little.
It had some strange alloys on it. They were on the car when he bought it new but i have never seen them on any other Clio. They were Renault ones, 15" and ugly but i sopose that just gives me a good excuse to change them :D.
Bit of rust on the disc's
dunno if i would have chosen black, but dont dislike it.

so, should i go for it and does it sound like a good deal to you?

i am 21 and can get insurance on it for £800 per year, fully comp, which is fine by me. Just want to know what you think about the price of the car really.

okey dokey, for the price that sounds more than fair
As u say the alloys gives you more reason to change them, and cleaning and restoring her up will be fun!! Sand down the brakes and get some caliper paint and you well on the way.

if the steering wheels are anything like the 172 ones then its a known problem with the crappy material. I havent had a prob with mine but lots of people have had melted grips. I havent been keeping an eye on the price of em so i cant say as to whether its a good deal.

Is it posible to replace the covering on the steering wheels or would i need to buy a whole new wheel?

Ive decided to go for it as it seems like a very good price to me.

IM GETTING ALL EXCITED ALREADY!!

having never washed a car propperly before, always use a bit of washing up liquid on me dads van, can any suggest a good product/s to give the outside a good clean and infact i will go all out and wax it as well, tho i have no idea how. also what should i use on the inside to make all the buttons feel new again?
