Is this overpriced? 1.4 RT

Hi there, I'm looking to buy another Clio this will be my third and i'm going to be looking at this car at the weekend. I know the lad as he's from my town but people have said its overpriced and i agree. So what would you say is a fair price?

By the way if i do buy it, the wheels are getting swapped with a set of 16v phase 2 wheels, the front and rear will be getting dropped a little more, standard rear lights and the fuel cap will be sprayed.

Oh and any negatives of buying a car with a replaced engine? Thanks everyone!

I personally wouldn't bother looking at anything with a replaced engine, too much faff. I'd look else where bud

A bit over priced Id go for £850, I would'nt bother looking at a car with an engine change like someone else said its not worth the time of day, What you've got to think is theres plenty more mint cars out there dont just jump in at the first one if you aint sure, just wait time and you will find a really good motor,
I looked at loads before I got mine and waited and I found the perfect one for me.

Yeah you got to find out if it had the ancillaries changed when the engine was changed, did they put another gearbox in? The engine may be (slightly in this case) newer but the rest of the car has done 129k ie interior, hubs, bearings, brakes, body etc. From expierience I really wouldn't bother, usually spells trouble

Thanks for the advice lads. I've got my eyes on a couple of others too..

Thats got 15" OZ's which he hasnt had that long, New exhaust, Tints, Strut Brace, Debadged Bonnet etc

Might also go and view this since its not too far from me, the seller reckons there are no scratches/dents. Wants about £500

I won't comment on the price, but I don't feel the objection to a replacement engine makes sense.

Then again, I'm biased as my Clio 1.4 RT is soon getting a replacement engine and gearbox.

Mk1 Phase3's always seem to go for more than Phase1/2. £1000 for that seems a decent price.

Of course, on the one listed, the replacement engine will usually make a difference to people buying, and they'll knock money off because of it (IMO).
