iTunes backup help

I'm stuck and I need help.

Before anyone asks, I have used google to attempt to find the answer but they are all geeks and it's not easy to understand.

I'm trying to get iOS5 on my iPhone, but there isn't enough space on my computers hard drive to backup my phone. I have a seperate hard drive where I would like to backup my phone to, how can I do this?

The first person to post the answer gets a Hi-5.

Stupid thought - move your music/pictures/p**n stash to the external HDD...

Back up the phone to the computer .. move p**n back if required.

Job done.

Your computer will be slow as hell if there's barely any space on it anyway ! Time to sort it out

Empty some space from ur pc hard drive to the external one then backup to pc...

I've got all mu music/p**n on the new hard drive, I seriously can't find anything that I can delete off the computer

How big's the computer's HDD and what on earth have you got on there !?

Pictures / movies / documents... there's gotta be stuff to go !

It's an old computer, 20GB IIRC.
