What do you have to do and what's involved getting it set up?

first of all you need two outlets out off your computer.

then once both conected, goto display properties select first screen and set as default then select the second screen and highlight the option to extend desktop to this scren and there you go done.

pretty simple but any probs shout me back and ill walk ya through

I think i've got 2, the one i've got at the min is a blue thingy that's got 2 screwy things one either side going into slot lol that sounds pants, there's another slot right next to it, i've allready upgraded the gxf card on my desktop pc. The one at the min is a 1280 x 1024 is it better going for the same size?

Just have both screens at max resolution. I have one on 1920x1200 and the other at 1280x1024. Might as well get the most out of them. :D

I loved my multimonitor setup... not got it anymore.. got one monitor in the loft, one on this Mac Mini and one just on the desk doing nothing. Was really, really productive during University on it.

IMO, mixing resolutions just wrecks the experience.. I bought three TFTs with really thin bezels when I did it.

Awesome IMO.. :)

I'd like to do it again - maybe just dual widescreens next time.

I love having a multi monitor setup, i only did it because I had spare/old screens about but to be fair if you have the chance to give it a go I bet you wouldn't go back

So, could you play Footy Manager on one whilst doing some real work on the other, or would you have to stick to two programs that can be run off the desktop, like Word and Firefox?

Ish. The problem is full screen programs don't work sometimes with multi monitor, as there's no way to get the cursor out of the game (it thinks it's full screen so why would you?)

Also, some games change resolutions etc, which causes issues too.

I've got two widescreen monitors, three is OTT.

Not really.

Saying that though, Spaces in OSX or Workspaces in most Linux window managers means you get as many workspaces as you need. In as much as, I'm using one 17" monitor at the moment and do everything I need... it's just, you can't see everything at once, which can be a problem sometimes.

XP/Vista does it with some dirty application.... so not all lost :rasp:

Got two widescreen 20" at work, download a program called UltraMon, really really good. Also some software called Desktops by Sysinternals, got 8 screens now :)

I have had 2 monitors for over 10 years never had any not work first time on any app and including PC games...

You dont play games over 2 screen it is just on your primary display the mouse cursor does not jump when playing games.

You can with some racing games setup multi display if you really want

You need NO speical software at all you just go in the display settings and enable the second monitor

yeah games cause problems but handily you can run footy manager in windowed mode and carry on fine! :D
