juddering and coolant warning light

Hi my daughter has a 05 clio 1.2 .while driving yesterday it started to judder and the coolant warning light came on
she returned home let the car cool down overnight and topped it up with water this morning she let it run for a few minutes then took it for a run unfortunately the same problem occurred
although she had to top up the exp tank she says there is no leak
she lives 300 miles away from me so i cant look myself anyone got any ideas??

Head gasket failure would be my guess with the info to hand. If its not leaking coolant it's going somewhere else so either out the exhaust or into the sump (or both!)

Hi Chris cheers for your reply turns out it was a EML not coolant warning and the coil pack was at fault
