***JUST BLOWN MY GEAR BOX****

Last night!!!

Got quotes of around a grand.

Does anyone have or know someone who has got a second hand box for sale. Or Know where I can get one for a good price, the best price i have got for just the box is £500 for a new one.

Its strange as my gearbox had felt fine and was running perfectly until it went out of the blue.

Oh well sh*t happens.

Any help would be wicked,

youd be hard pressed to find a better deal than 500 for a new one. i would pay that if mine went but i think a while a go nick found a place that did 350 for recon exchange one with warrany

Why dont you try a breakers or whatever you call them, there might be a gearbox from a car which has been in an accident, which should cost much less than £500.

Yeah the only thing is that it is a 10 hr job fitting so there is the risk that you get it in then it goes a few months later and you would have no garantee. If you replace it with a new one whilst its apart it may cost more but you get a garantee and you know it is going to last.

Yeah theres a Mr Clutch in Southend as well, I think all up its about £700 for fitting a recon box?

A mate who is a machanic looked at my car yesterday seems to think it i could be lucky and it might just be the drive shaft pin.

He is looking at it tomorrow night to see.

Dont wanna worry u ben But mine has done 86k.

And Matt i might be at the rr2 day but I have just spoken to Nick hill and he seems to think that it is the box. So i might not. Still 50/50

I have a slight whine from my box, and other than keeping the oil topped up is there anyway to ensure the long life of the box, as I want mine to last, (79k) and everytime i hear someones gearbox go, its always seems to be at 80 something thousand miles on them
