Just bought a TV? It could be old hat already.

  BMW e46 320 Ci Sport
but won't everytihng be stretched on it until media supporting that aspect comes out?

LoL I'd rather have black bars at the top and bottom for 2.35:1 movies, than black bars at the sides for every current broadcast.

Looks nice, but watching standard TV, Xbox, non 21:9 dvds will look crap.

Maybe another 3+ years before it's even worth buying.

If and when it becomes a standard, there will be far better tech available than a Philips LCD TBH :D

The yanks have taken 20 years to embrace 16:9 FFS

Shame they made a TV 2.39:1 aspect just after u bought a new one. dont worry to much, live with the letterbox's!

It is as you probably know the standard of film but I do completely agree with the fact you will be watching everything else in pillar box. very well put!

BTW it will not be possible within 10 years to change the current aspect ratio's in broadcasting as mpeg and the EBU will 100% say no to this.

Of course, but even then not all film. Some movies are still shown in ~1.85:1 (16:9) even at the flicks.

Absolutely though. That TV will be a huge flop. I first thought it was a haox TBH but it seems genuine enough. Any movie/AV buff who was that serious, would already have a high-end PJ. I don't think they'll want a f**king Philips LCD roffle :D

Yeah the digital Cinema Via satellite that we have started working is all (atm) HD and therefore 16:9! It does seem that most people dont have a clue that their missing anything unless they are told they are.

Good for certain aspect films.... Will look good when switched off....(joking)

Seriously its cool I like it, not seen one in action yet which is odd for me but "some" films will looking amazing on this

Will it take off?? Maybe becuase ideas are running short on LCD & Plasmas but I think it will be more specialst for custom AV installs where they want a plasma/lcd over projector and they watch a lot of movies.

But untill TV/SKY is broadcast in this aspect it will be pretty rare

What a f**king pointless excercise. When broadcasting and media catches up it will be seriously old technology.

I'd hate having black bars on the side of normal 16:9 resolutions. I already get so pissed of watching 4:3 on widescreen.

Strangely, I don't mind black bars at top and bottom.

Ahem OLED

Can't wait for these to come out!
