Just fitted 172 16's to my Car..

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked before..

Just fitted some new 16" 172 Alloys to my 1.2 16V Clio. And now there is rubbing when turning right?

Any ideas?

Mine did this once it had been lowered, I did not worry and it went away once it had worn a groove in the arch liner :rasp:

If yours is not lowered I would guess this is not normal.

Small spacers would be the option to fix it.

Sorry should of mentioned car is completely standard at the moment ride height wise anyways. Odd :/

Sounds odd to me but I don't know much

Have a good look and see where it is rubbing, if it has been scrubbing it should be obvious.

Spacers may be your option!

Actually I think I might be being stupid here, hope someone will confirm that

Thinking about it being low I don't think will affect it, its to do with the offset etc.

It will be rubbing and I bet it has left a few marks on your arch liners, I would not worry to much and you will find it eventually stop.

If your too bothered cut the arch liner away or install some small spacers.

As long as the wheels are fitted correctly then still drive it!

What kind of noise is it?

They usually rub against the shocks but it may differ depending on what spec yours is.

Just put your hand behind the wheels and feel how much room there is, if there is very little it's likely that is your problem.

If it's standard height they can't be rubbing on the arches.

It sounds as though its coming from the rear left when turning right if that makes sense... Hope that helps a little. :/

Gonna try 10mm spacers, Hopefully will fix it :/

Put 5mm spacers on the rear all gone now thanks guys
