Kindle use Android operating system, but heavily restricted. You can only use the amazon market for apps. It's a nice piece of hardware, just very limiting

It's a worse device (slower) anyway regardless of the "for kiddies" interface.

Just get the Nexus 7 and install the kindle app on it.

Or ignore us and get the inferior Kindle Fire HD.

For the money Nexus 7 is good - although personally I want a 10" tablet so will wait for the new Nexus range to become available. 7" is not big enough for home use IMO.

misunderstood me. The nexus 7 is a superb device
