knocking noise, Rubbing noise, Strange Idle.

Hi, when I start my car up from cold it sounds slightly like it diesel, it has a quiet knocking noise and once warm sounds normal, also when it is idling it has slight rubbing noise and the RPM's are not constant. My car is a W REG petrol 1.2 Clio with 42 000 miles. Any ideas????? :S

check the aux belt etc see if there won is it due a cmeblt or just had one done?

its just had its cambelt done, the aux belt doesnt look in bad shape. thanks
