knocking

in the last few days is i set off and the stop i cna hera a knocking sound car drives stright so im i right in thinking its a engine mount.

pull the hand brake up, let the clutch pedal up and down with some revs on, you'll hear/feel it for sure if the mounts

Check your lower gearbox mount, they seem to be the ones that fail and cause knocking.

all mounts are ok. got it on to a ramp at a mates garage. checked all and can only get it to make the sound when rocking the engine by rocking the exhaust. it sounds as though it is at the back of the engine somwhere but can not see what is causing it.
