Ktec Exhausts - loud?

I have a funny feeling that my 172 exhaust (standard) is going to drop off pretty soon. I need a stealth replacement i think. I prefer the q-car look and sound though. Can anyone on here with a Ktec stealth tell me how loud it is please? A bit of a burble is fine but massive volume will mean I'm gonna look for something else. Opinions? Anyone recommend any other options as I'm sure there must be other people think the same as me!?

I had the exact same dilemma as you, I'm not into big showy tail-pipes so the stealth seemed ideal.

Had it on for about 2 months now, and covered about 5k miles...noise wise, if you're light with the throttle, ar just driving normally I think you'd be hard pressed to tell it apart from standard. there's a nice deep burble at tickover but nothing over the top.

At full throttle though, under load, at high revs...it screams

I do 30 miles each way to work every day, about 20 of which are high speed motorway, and it's more than bearable.

So bearable in fact...that I'm looking for a decat now.

Cheers Mark thats sounds like *exactly* what I need then!! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply; my problem is now solved... As for the decat; am I right in thinking you have to put a cat back on for every MOT? That sounds like a right load of hassle!?

It is a fiddly job to swap for each MOT, but mine's in the hands of Rentech so often that for Mike to swap it for me each time is pretty hassle free.

K-tec Stealth is pretty loud on throttle but fine for cruising on the M-way

The stealth can be quiet or loud depending on how you're driving! You certainly don't think it's too quiet when you have both windows down on a Sunday drive...

I would say the 'normal' k-tecs are a little bit louder. I used to think k-tec exhauts were very loud but whenever i've heard a Prospeed or H&S they've been noticeably louder.

As long as it's not loud as your trying to get some shopping on a sunday morning driving sedately i'm happy - dont wanna look a t**t! It can go banzai if it wants once it's out in the country! No turning back now, anyhow; already ordered. Will let you know my personal opinion at the end of the week...
