Kwik Fit...

So, took the 182 for 4 new exaltos saturday to kwik fit (they priced matched £344 all in). When inspecting them before paying i noticed they had scratched 3 alloys (rubber on machine wearing and them not paying attention in stopping it above the wheel while changing).

I approached them about this and they messed around for a while before taking responsibility, saying they would take care of it next week... I said that wasn't good enough etc and refused to pay until they put something in writing, let me contact thier manager (wasn't there, refused to give number!). They then basicaly ignored me and served other customers saying wait 5 mons etc whenever i approached. This followed a confrontation with the police being called (i could have avaoided this but was pretty pissed off 2 hours later).

Spoke to thier customer services who gave me £50 a wheel compensation... i've said it before but i mean it this time- I will never go back to that place!

unlucky fella. shame you didn't think before you went there. random question but where you from?

I live in London, the place is really close to my flat and as they priced matched i thought it would be easier and quicker... non actualy....

I need some new brake pads fitting... any recomendations in the north london/hertfordshire area? I just want standard pads.

Ah K thought I knew someone of a someone. But no sorry don't know of any. If you want to drive there, I think Mark Fish Motorsport is very highly recommended on here. Think it's Gillingham way... PM this guy - "S22 JGS" though if your interested as I think he had his done there...

i was on the bus going past kwik fit the other day. bus stopped in traffic lights and i could see what was going on behind the garage. this guy was cleaning a customers car while having a fag, going in and out of the car with the fag in his mouth just not giving a care in the world.

It's unfair to say they are all like that. I've used one near me a few times and never had a problem with them damaging alloys, they've also always done me a good price.

Sounds bad mate but it happens all the time....
I have worked for a variety of car dealers / classic vehicle restoration companies and to be honest 90% of the public dont even notice things like this so workers become careless because of it.
I remember on one occasion I confronted a collegue (who was bouncing a new car off the rev limiter) about how the customer had spent 25 grand on that car and wouldnt appricate that treatment to it, only to receive "they shouldnt be so f**king stupid then, should they" as an answer.
Every company I have worked for (I aint gonna mention any names) has staff with the same crappy attitude towards customers.
You are lucky if you can find a good one, so stick with them.

How far away is this from London?

Paying £50 a wheel is an admission of responsibility for the damage. Simple file a claim in the small claims court for the remaining balance for the cost of a set of new wheels, this will cost around £60 . You also add the cost of this court fees onto the claim, and if they lose the defendant will pick up the court costs (plus any costs, such a time and petrol in picking up the new wheels). After paying £50 i really cant see them fighting it in court, and it think they will just pay out.

Thanks for this advice, I will write them a letter letting them know what i will do and they will be responsible for costs etc before i go ahead and see what they come back with.

The chances are you wont get the full amount for a new set of wheels if the claim goes to court, as the law takes into account the wear on the wheels and you will receive like for like, based on a number of criteria. However, i really cant see them fighting it, and i doubt they will have legal advice, so will probably just pay out.

I wouldnt let Kwik fit within a mile of my car :S ...... Dodgy fit more like.....:nono: and on my previous car every time a garage took my mile migla evo5's off they damaged them all EXCEPT one and they are the only garage who touch any of my cars...

The Garage in milton keynes they are very very good and even clean your alloy if they put a new tyre on it.. :) I have used them for 5 years now and they have never damaged my alloys :D nice blokes tooo...

Thanks for all the feedback... I shouldn't have been so lazy and taken them somewhere else... can anyone advise on somewhere to gey my pads done within north london'hertfordshire area?

I was in Kwik fit yesterday for the first time and i expected the outcome.

Been trying to locate a hissing and im pretty sure its from the mani. Anyway, went in just wanting them to confirm this but they said they couldnt find any leaks.... so i said to mechanic, take it out and give it some beans lol ( he must have been 18 and thought it was Xmas lol) But he came back and said, nope didnt hear a thing lol How can you not hear it !!!. Press the pedal and "sssssssssssss" lol

So anyway, i expected as much. The main guy behind the desk was a tit but the mechanic was pretty decent even though he didnt help me lol.

So in conclusion, would never have gone before and will not ever again lol
