Never bothered going up to lakeside, what actually happens up there? I imagine lots of Saxo's and neons.

Not anymore lol. Just a big cruise/meet sort of thing really. So many cars it's unreal, some parked up, some giving it some beans & showing off ETC. People standing on the strip bits watching the others. Not a bad night to be fair, beats staying in! Did you ever go to the place in Basildon, forget what it's called now, the industrial estate with the strip & mini roundabout?!

We used to pop up on Saturday nights & it was complete mayhem! I remember a few cossies always being up there, a white RS500 being one & absolutely having it up & down & then round the mini roundabout! Sometimes we would go onto Southend but that seemed to get quieter & quieter

There was more of a scene 'back then' (and more so before my time) but nowadays people are just interested in parking up at McDonald's all night, at least in my area anyway.
Another memory includes an Imperial Escort Cossie sitting in the traffic up there just spinning on the spot! Some of my best nights out were at that place. Quite right about the police though, giving section 59's out left right & centre. Plus I know they had mobile units for testing THC on fingers & cars up lakeside which when added to more of a presence in general put a lot of people off I think.

Definitely more of a scene years ago use to always be getting moved on by police usually because of stupid kids on peds doing stupid things. Imagine what it will be like in the next 10 years the car scene will be practically dead. The police should be out solving real crimes like murders and rape etc instead they pick on the car scene as it's a easy target for them, as for the section 59 don't get me started I got 1 2 years ago for going on my own drive by 2 plastic policeman proper jobs worth
I woukd be up for it but work at 5 on sunday went up lakeside after Surrey rolling road we parked in multi storyabout 8-9 of us and watched people racing around had the police come up and have a go and took all our plates even we was parked up doing nothing.

What's the deal with the slating the police?

The police are there to do a job, and im glad they are. Too many boy racers drive like complete dickhead$. If you haven't done anything wrong, you won't get done for it, simple as that. I have been to countless meets and cruises when I was younger. Wanna know how many times I got 'done'? NEVER, NOT ONCE, and do you know why? Because my car was always legal, insured correctly and I never drove like a tw@t, which is strange, because according to you lot, the police dish out tickets / section 59's randomly. Yep, police took my details a number of times, but never heard anything..............because there was no reason to!!!
If you were at a meet / cruise / show etc and were hit by an un-insured driver driving like a kn0b, you be the first one to want the police there locking him up, so stop your whining.
Don't do anything illegal and you won't get anything. SIMPLE AS THAT!!!
