No core 2 duo though :( Seems good for the price, but there are cheap laptops all over the place these days! Acer ones for a start, and now Tescos stock cheap Dells!

  Clio 1.6 16v Dynamique+
still seems a good price for that. comes with home premium too where as i believe tesco comes with vista basic... which is worth a tin of beans.

the core 2 duos cpu are known for being a better cpu and the lower spec pentium dual cores. Its like comparing a core 2 duo with a pentium 4 dual core for a PC. Yes both dual core but one still out shines the other.

more expensive, no idea about temps, but yeah they work quicker than the other dual cores. They are probably the best in the market atm apart from the quads and extremes of course!

I think core 2 duos are more efficient and run cooler, for general windows use, web browsing i'd imagine that the laptop in the link would be more than adequate. Just check out the quality of the display before you buy, I've seen some shocking cheap laptop screens.

Are are duos not better for laptops as they consume less power, therefore giving longer battery life?

i was told that a pentium d (dual core) is basically two pentium 4 processors strapped together. where as a core 2 has been designed form the ground up, and is more advanced that just sticking two processors together.

that could be crap though, i have never confirmed it.

I got my old laptop from aldi, Stack em high sell em cheap! is aldi's motto.

It lasted me 4 years before the keyboard went. Very good buy

Budget processor, screen and brand - but good graphics and HDMI port.

Ok for mid-range activities.

My old man has just bought one of these.... Have to say I'm impressed! I brought him COD4 for chrimbo and his old lappy wouldn't look at it. This one does very well! Super spec for the money imho.

Seems well built too!

The 2330 dual core processor in the laptop uses the same technology as the core2 processors. They are both based on the same "conroe" core but the laptops chip has a slower 533 FSB and only 1mb of l2 cache.
