Laptop encryprion

Does anyone know of any free encryption software for my laptop running windows 7 professional.
Total lock out after so many password attempts etc...

Pretty sure all the Intel chips from the past couple of years have this built in tbh.

A TPM isn't inbuilt to the processor, but a lot of laptops will have a TPM chip and I believe you can also get a software based TPM solution on machines.

Also you don't need a TPM to use Bitlocker, can use a USB drive to store the key.

As said just use Truecrypt as it's free
