Laptop experts - laptop for sub £400?

After a fairly compact laptop for under £400, looked at a netbook but they are a little too small (Samsung NC10 to be precise!)

The Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop comes in just under £400.

What would anyone else recommend? Cheers!!

Just found the Sony VAIO NS10 and vaio NR32 in budget - anyone used em?!

  Better than yours. C*nt.
Cheap Sonys are a con... They're terrible machines.

The 1525 is a good machine, as is the Vostro 1510 - although the slightly more expensive 1310 fits nicely inbetween the NC10's size and the 15.4" laptops...

Dislike both AMD laptop processors and HP laptops, but it seems reasonable enough!

  Rav4
For that price, you cannot complain.

To a normal user, AMD or Intel is not going to make the slightest bit of difference.

All these new machines are way overkill for the typical net, word and excel user......

Just bought an HP 6735s (iirc) from Ebuyer for £400 and it's got 4 gb ram, 250 gb hdd and 2+ ghz processor, amd dual core.

Chuffed with it, would thoroughly recommend it. Vista runs beautifully.

Right my thread is now VOID! Keeping the notebook and now looking to either get a damn good big laptop or get a new home system built as ours is slow, old and shite!
