Laptop Issue - Screen Dimming When Plugged In!

  Honda. Tesla Someday
Hello There People!

A work collegue has an issue with his Toshiba Laptop.

When he plugs it in to the mains the screen darkens a lot and you cant see much at all! We plugged in an external screen and messed around with the Toshiba power manager etc with no luck!

Anybody had this issue before / know how to solve it??

Thanks!

When on mains hold down FN and tap the up arrow key.

Failing that check you power schemes and look for screen brightness on mains.

OR check your BIOS as its sometimes in there.

Been doing some research and the FL Inverter keeps coming up in results. Anybody know anything about this?

By the way, when its switched on WITHOUT the power cable plugged in, it is fine!

When the power cable is plugged in to it, the screen dims and is hardly visible.

This led me to believe it was a power management issue, but I guess thats not the case?

Anybody know of an easy fix???? Anything!?

Yep, thanks for that. We tried it but it didnt work. Sorry that I didnt acknowledge your post, but we did try everything you said.

Replying to KOI's post, the power management is taken care of by Toshiba software, which disables the Windows version which manages power.

Further research has led us to believe that it is indeed a hardware fault (the FL Inverter).

Thank You all for the help, but I guess this one can't be solved with software.

Cheers.

Ah, its just that you can normally set different profiles for mains + battery power, but as you said you have tried all of them.

Hope you get it fixed.
