"Lacquer" will make them shiny mate but it also protects from UV ect... if you want that Matte look then just leave them as they are.

Indeed your bearded deviant, cheap paint never ends well if you want a decent job.
 
What paint did you use on them? only reason you would not lacquer is if it was a single stage paint. Otherwise you should always lacquer for a lasting protected finish, use dull coat if you want a matt finish. (Just remember dont buff it, else it wont be matt anymore!)
