clio 182
Well since I always come on Clio sport even though I haven't had a Clio in a good few years I thought I would put a thread up about my latest car (and I'm bored waiting for top gear to come on!).
I broke the Clio when I bought my evo, and had the evo for almost 2 years I think but unfortunately I managed to put a rod through the block! I spent a small fortune on it and was a bit sickened at the cost of repairing it so it got sold. I then had an ep3 civic type r for a while which was good but after the evo it just wasn't enough really!
So, I went in search of a fun car that would hopefully be a bit more reliable on track! I ended up with this....
it is a standard 99 import other than the wheels. I was very happy with it but as always I started to modify it to best suit the track!
First up was a new rear diff with a 4.44 final drive. Totally transformed the car. I'm my opinion they should have come from the factory like this! Suits the engine so much better and really flies up the box now!
Next up was a k&n, probably does nothing for power but sounds much better in v tec
so, after this I started getting a misfire, investigated and found it was number 3 cylinder. Ordered 4 new coil packs and new plugs and got on with fitting them...... That's when I found this lot
the coil pack wiring had been extended by about a metre?!? I have no idea why this would have been done, it's not just a 2 minute job to do? It was all duly ripped out!
Whilst I was at it I cleaned the rocker cover up and set the valve clearances
During all this I also noticed the previous owner had swapped the rear wheels to the front and vise-versa due to tire wear. He obviously didn't notice that the rears are 8.5" and the fronts 7" Again, sorted that out at the expense of a new set of spigot rings since the originals had been binned!!
Drove her it like this for a couple of months then Ordered some meister r zeta coilovers. Totally transformed the look!
Before
after
next up was new brakes and tires ready for its first trackday. Went for carbotech xp8's all round with rbf600 fluid and ad08-r's.
Ready for its first trackday
on track it was good, very good! But It was let down badly by the geo and some worn bushes (for those not in the know the s2000 is a nightmare with bushes, the geo bolts seize inside them which mine has done). This will be fixed for next time though! It really affected turn in and hindered the outright pace on the corners, but it was still good fun!
The main point to note from having it on track is the engine and gearbox, it is the best combination I have used!! It really is that good! I urge anyone to try it and not like it, 9000rpm is addictive  Especially with that gearbox!
Few pics from the trackday
so that's it upto now! I have lots of bits on order to cure the geo/bush problem and a few others just to make it a bit track friendlier!
Hope you lot enjoyed reading that and it's killed an hour for me before top gear :rasp:
Will update as the car progresses!
Cheers
