Laying up the cup

  Clio cup172
Due to getting a company van and there not being enough room on the drive decided to lay the cup up at my parents for the forseable it's got 59k on the clock is there anything I should do to her before she gets layer up ie oil change ect... Ps is there anywhere I can get a descent cover from cheers

Wouldn't bother with changing the oil, as you'll only have to change it when you want to use it again. Personally wouldn't bother with a car cover, unless its an expensive one it'll leave swirl marks/scratches all over it. Just give a very thorough clean all over and apply multiple thick coats of wax.

Also put some desiccant packs/a dehumidifier in there, as the condensation etc might leave spots of mould in the car.

Disconnect the battery as well.

No. Obviously if the cars going to left in a rough area, then you'll want to leave the battery connected so the alarm works. But likelihood is the battery will go dead by the time you want to use the car again.

Just fire it up every so often and that will keep the battery charged.. Well that's what I did while mine was off the road for 6 months

I got my cover from these, its a good fit and its the 2nd cover i`ve bought from them (not for the same car) I think mine was about £120 ish and its the Noah i have, its even got pockets sown in for the mirrors and a nice snug fit with two under body straps so it does not blow off in the wind.

Oh btw my car lives under its cover for months at a time and has been fine, if it had marked it in anyway then i would leave the cover off.
The cover stops the birds crap, cats claws, sun light fading the trim etc.....

Roll it forward or backwards a few inches every now and again to stop tyres getting flat spots? Or is that an old myth.

Mines been standing 3 months now. It's undercover which helps, but all I do is start up once a month, let it run for half an hour and get it up to temperature. Seems fine for the time being.

I have two sitting there not moving at the minute, As said earlier in the thread, Put some moisture bags inside the car as mould starts to grow on the seats etc!
I just fire mine up once a week and leave to run for a few minutes to keep the battery charged etc.

My 172 has been SORN for the last 6 months. All I have done is disconnected the battery and left the handbrake off. I can't start it as the aux belt is hanging on by a thread, otherwise I would let it idle for a bit once a week.
