LCD - vertical banding

I've got a 6 year old toshiba LCD. It's been great but now suffers from 3 or 4 faint vertical bands at the top of the screen. It's more noticeable on things like football but now I know they are there I can see them all the time. Is there anything I can do to make them less visible other than buying a new tv?

Sounds like you have a TAB fault (Tape Automated Boding, a manufacturing technique). Basically some contacts inside the panel are becoming un stuck, its possible applying pressure may make the lines go away.

Google things like LCD TAB fault / lines / repair and you can decide if its worth pulling your TV to bits !
