Thanks for replying. It's coming from the plastic cover at the top of the pic. Is it easy to take the engine mount off?Cant really see where its coming down from in that picture TBH but check its not just run down from the oil filler when you have topped it up, failing that it will most likely be the cam cover seal on the cambelt end.
Aux belt looks dry, whip the top engine mount off and see if the cambelt is or not, if there is any sign of fluid on the cambelt, then you need to treat this as a major problem.
Yes its easy to take off, just 3 16mm bolts holding it on, but you need to support the engine while you do it, so stick a jack under the sump (with a lump of wood or a cloth etc on it to avoiding risking cracking the sump)
You can then see in to the belt.
engine in, essentially a cambelt change.
That oil will have ran down from the top of the engine, most probably as above mentioned, rocker cover or cam seal. i'd take the top cam cover off and have a look, unless you can see a leak from the rocker cover through the inlet manifold......
Yeah once you are as far as having the belt off its a relatively small amount of extra work to reseal the cam cover.
Hateful job though, cause you dont know if you have got it right or not till its all back together again, although thankfully it does normally go to plan if you know what you are doing.

Tell me about it! Its 'my' job at BTM, hate Fred for that.
If I take the plenum off will I see the rocker cover?
Bear in mind that to "take it off" you have to do the cambelt, as unlike most engines the cam cover is also the the cam retaining caps all built into it as well, so when you take it off the cams will get pulled out by the tensioner yanking down on the pulleys (plus you wont get it off past the dephasor anyway IIRC)
What are your views on adding an additive to the engine oil to help stop the leak?
It will no doubt do a better job of clogging the internal oil ways than stopping the leaks. What are your views on adding an additive to the engine oil to help stop the leak?
