My car uses coolant randomly, been fine for two weeks, and today had to top it up over 3 pints! But i think it's loosing it from here:

Is there a gasket or is it just a case of using sealant? and if i unscrew the 3 bolts will there be anything important under there?

Undo those three bolts and the collent will come pouring out take the fluid out first then get a new gasget or some gasget repair stuff if its coming from that. Stick that on and bolt back up.

Yeah don't worry i would drain it first!, but there is nothing behind that? so would be an easy job then.

Ok cheers edde you the man, oh would those have been undone during a cambelt change?

yeah its a little rubber ring about 50mm in diameter, yours has probably became briitle and cracked or something.

make sure your cars cold and just pull the 2 hoses off. undo the 3 bolts, put i the thermostat and seal ring, tighten up the 3 bolts.

put hoses back on. undo bleed screw and fill up header tank until water flows out bleed hole. (this is a wee screw near where the hoses are)

run up car with heating and fan fully on until engine fan switches on. check level in tank after half an hour and top up if needed.

sorted.

ok cheers, i'll have a look next weekend then. so you wouldn't bother bleeding it first?

bleed it off once youve got everything back together.

and remember to put some anti freeeze in when youre topping the system back up

No, no point if its leaking form there take all the fluid out anway might as well chnage it all.

Eas way to do it is to pull the lower hose on the radiator and drop all the fluid in a bucket.

not sure if thats the correct part number mate, but yeah thats the same sort of thing.

just pop along to your local renault stealership and they'll get the right one from your chassi number - saves all the farting about.
