leccy window motor fitment

i need to replace the leccy window motor in the passenger door and replace the switch, is it easy to do? Is the door panel held on with glue (along with screws)?

cheers, pete

Its held on with sealant and some little clips but should just pull off after unscrewing with a bit of force.

I think to replace the motor you need to change the whole window mechanism though which i think could be a big job. Is the motor totally gone or just slow?

Removing the door card shouldnt be too hard at all! Just some screws along the bottom, screwed in handle, then just pull away from clips and sealant! :)

However, swapping the electric motor would be one hell of a bastid job!! :(

I just spent saturday afternoon salvageing a leccy window switch and motor from a scrapped RT - and when id finished the door looked in a bad way!

There are only 3 bolts holding the motor in place, and 2 bolts holding the accompanying runner tubing in place - the problem is getting these out/and the new ones in - without mangling the parts or the door!!...Which is near on impossible!

It seriously may be easier getting a new door and attaching that instead!!

cheers people, the motors just slow and pathetic, probably just leave it. Hi mat, no door for me mate but cheers anyhow!

If its just slow it is most likely the switches need cleaning (or replacing). The problem with the passenger window is the power travels through the contacts of the switches on both sides so the resistance of the dirty contacts is double that on the single switch drivers side.

Take the tops off the switches and spray with electrical contact cleaner.

If you wanted to test the motor you could give a direct feed of power to it(green and white wires coming from the switch i think).
