LED Tail/Stop Lamp Messing with Cruise Control

  182FF
As above really. Put some LED lamps in the stop/tail and because they don't use as much power i'm assuming the cruise control checks the loads on the lamps and if not right then disables cruise control (about right?)

Question is, what circuit does it check, tail or stop? The lamps came with some resistors i can put in line to create a load but i don't know which circuit they are needed on.

Thanks for any info

No idea, but that's a good one!

I would have presumed that the brake light switch on the pedal disabled the cruise!

i cant quite see renaults logic behind this anyway.. so if you've got a bulb out your cruise control doesnt work..

I recently did my brakes so have adjusted the brake switch and the cruise control worked after that.

Since then all I've done is replaced these lamps so I'm led to believe it's because of that.

Let us know how you get it sorted mate

You sure it's def not the brake sensor?
Sounds very strange, as GAZ2 said above :S

It just seems a big coincidence that i changed my lamps and then it didn't work. Hopefully i'll get to look at it this week and put these resistors on.

Fitted the in line resistors today (to simulate a load) and the cruise control works perfectly now.

Guess if the cruise control ever goes on your car then the brake lights themselves would be worth checking.

How strange!

Can't imagine why the brake lights failing would disable the cruise control.
However, I'm glad you got it sorted and thanks for posting the results as this may help me out somewhat :)

Isn't it just?!

Surely in this case that would mean a blown tail light would stop the cruise working? :S

Indeed. Its not that strange really. Cruise control when turned on checks certain aspects of the car (safety). Checking the brake lights actually work is not so far fetched, i know it checks the brake switch but this doesn't prove the lights are actually working.

One to check for all these people whose cruise control mysteriously doesn't work

I see that, but I can't understand what difference it makes to the cruise control if the lights work or not? You could have no brakes whatsoever, but as long as the lights work it thinks it's ok?!

Good one to remember if anyone has trouble with their cruise control though, as you say! :D
