Lettering fading away?

Wasn't quite sure what section to put this in but it's not really about the wheels as such... basically was giving the car a good going over the other day when I came to the wheels only to notice the lettering is starting to fade on my Speedlines. Rather upsetting tbh as I love them. Could it be related to using Iron-X? All I do is Iron-X and tyre shine (mentioned as it seeps on to the wheels) then Mer them once a month.

I've had them on the car since brand new about 2 years ago. Some are worse than others but here's one of the more affected wheels...

Iirc someone wanted to remove the speedline logos a few years back and done it using a cloth and some polish.

They're not the most durable logos so maybe worth removing them and getting a new fresh set to stick on?

That's a shame although I know N2Grafix sell replacement stickers so maybe I'll have a colour change if they wear off completely :S not great though really is it...

Tampo print probably, so basically painted on.
That is why it fades(wears off actually)
Could have been prevented with a clearcoat....but that won't help now...
Best bet would be to polish it off and use a template to paint new letters on....and then clearcoat.
Vinyl could be used as a mask I guess.

But you say you only iron x and tyre shine? Every wash? You know iron x isn't a wheel cleaner, right? And prolonged exposure can make wheels porous to an extent? So the damaged transfer may be the least of your worries

Oh, s**t... no never used Tardis. Is Iron-X once per month too much?

Id say so. I use it three times a year tops when I strip all the old crap (tar, iron, sap etc, wax, sealants) off the car, polish and reprotect.

Go to morrisons/wilko and buy some wonder wheels hot wheels. It's a dedicated wheel cleaner with mild fallout removers. £4ish for 750 ml

Or or go to autofinesse and get their imperial wheel cleaner. It can be diluted quite a bit and lasts ages.
