Lightweight mirrors...thoughts and opinions?

I have a set of Carbon F1 style mirrors in the garage and thought about making some base plates up and dropping them on the car. I've weighed the stock 172 Cup mirrors at 578g each, the carbon mirrors with base plates are 462g each. It's not really worth the effort for 232g! can anyone tell me if the Cup mirrors are the lightest stock mirrors out there or are the manual mirrors from a base model lighter/better for use?

What is your fascination with saving weight with lighter mirrors?! They weigh nothing as standard.

Taking a big poo before you go racing will have more of an effect.

Lol! I just had the mirrors spare so thought I might use them...I did think about getting some manual mirrors though.

The mirrors will weigh the same, it'll be the wiring that'll weigh a negligible amount more. You can same more weight in less anal places too;

Chuck the spare wheel
lose the seats
Scrape the sound deadening (tar)
im not sure how much turinis weigh but fit lighter wheels? Something like 8kg per corner is saved due to unsprung weight.. I don't understand it lol

Im already way past the suggestions offered knuckles. No pas, heater, perspex windows etc...single seat. Cup has no sound matting anyway

The roll cage (if fitted) will get in the way of of the near side mirror. also vibrations at high speed will make it almost impossible to use. unless you mount them on the door closer to the driver. But as above, not really worth the effort imo You could lose that weight be shaving all insides of the spoiler out lol

I sorted the mirrors anyway. Pair of cf f1 style items, made up some cf base plates and once bolted up there is zero vibration. Visibility is fair (not as good as the craft squares I had on my ep82) total weight is 200g.
