Linux help

run the terminal program under applications > accessories

and type: sudo nano /etc/ppp/peers/dialup1

This will open up a file editor of the above file (compare to editing a config file in windows) (sudo means with admin powers - if you browse to it, you will prob get an error)

then add the text from your link and hit save.

I've got the terminal program up. Typed the above and get this screen
SDC10042-1.gif

Do I just copy the text in and save?
Getting confused by this instruction
5) Edit /etc/ppp/peers/dialup1 ("sudo nano /etc/ppp/peers/dialup1") - find the bottom paragraph, which starts "modem", and edit that part of the file to read:

Can't see any paragraphs?
Sorry for being a complete noob!

Was just gonna say you either typed the wrong path, the file didn't exist or the file was empty.

Problem was I was using easy mode. Once into full mode, no problems at all. The connection is great, hardly slower than my home broadband!

I wouldn't stick with the default install TBH, its crap.

Hate the linux on eee pc! Couldnt even get rid of it to replace it with ubuntu :(

Really ? I did it with an eee pc and it was a case of inserting a usb stick with a ubuntu installer on it. Job done !

I had issues with trying to do it that way, cant remember why now but it simply wouldnt play ball. Gave up as its not for my use so I wasnt too bothered. Just wanted to make it more 'windows like' for the person using it.
