Gnome 2.2.4 has just been released, and included with it is Empathy Instant Messenger. Worth a look.

But failing that I would go with pidgin as Tom posted.


There are more than a few others for you to choose from, like aMSN, Kmess etc.

OSX has Adium which is the best client ever if that helps?
Infact, Adium is one if my favourite apps ever!

Worth getting a Mac just for that IMO.

Ok, I use pidgin in Linux now. Used it for years, it used to be gAIM - so very focussed on AIM then it evolved and changed name as it didn't make sense calling it gAIM any more!
Anyway, enough history!
