Little information needed.

Hey, I have a situation which I would like some help with and I think you guys are the people.
A friend of my old man owns a garage and they've just got a 03 plate Black billabong clio in, 34k on the clock.

The car has been in a little bump and the following need replacing:

n/s/f wing
n/s/f door is bent in
Lower rear panel has dent in
n/s airbag deployed

The front end and back end are all fine and the chassis all seem okay, non are out of shape.

The car has been registered as CAT D though.

I've been down today looking for some lights for my current clio and he's turned around and said I can have the car for £600 cause he knows my dad. Good deal or not?

I'm wondering how much it would cost to replace the door, wing, remove dent and replace airbag?

Also, would I need to inform my insurance that the car is cat D? I understand it wouldn't need a VIC check. And I know I won't get much for it when I sell it on but I'll most probably be passing it on to my sister who's learning to drive in a few months so we'll get our use out of it.

Most CSers will tell you not to touch cat d,c's etc but its entirely down to yourself......surely the guy at the garage would know people to get these parts on the cheap?

i would say good deal your looking at £800 for painting and fitting seat is a tough one as you have to replace the frame the cover and the airbag and also the computer unless you can get a second hand seat

Not a bad idea actually that.
Never thought of it.
My dad's got the garage filled with his 1967 VW Wizard project so I'll have to start clearing out the shed.

if the airbag goes off......

do you HAVE to replace the ecu? or can you just "reset" it?
 
I've had a Cat C and there's been nothing at all wrong with it, it passed all the checks straight away and I've got the log book and insurance approval thingy.

Sometimes they register stuff as Cat D when just a light has been smashed and maybe a bumper or something... it's outrageous.
 
If your getting it reset you have to send it off to Germany I think it is.

Best asking bmh.01 sure he's had his ECU reset.

damage seems to be side on so i would defo get it on a jig to check the chassis before even touching it

Def get it checked out as Cat C would suggest possible chassis damage. May not be damaged, but if it is walk away or buy/strip!
